Improving Matchmaking Last year we launched Prime Matchmaking with the goal of providing a better matchmaking experience. Initially the system simply matched players who linked CS: GO with a unique phone number. Initial Release When we removed regions, our intention was to increase the number of other players you could be matched with by letting you play on additional data centers — the more players you have to match with means more balanced teams and shorter matchmaking times. Additionally, players who had previously chosen to play in a different region and therefore would never play on their best data center would now have improved experiences by playing on their local data center for the vast majority of their matches.

We were able to get into a game lobby, but one player on the other team failed to load and we were returned to Matchmaking. I was party leader and immediately got the play screen asking us to reconnect to the game in progress, which of course didn’t work. At the same time, Steam Friends went down due to what I assume was a server upgrade rolling out.

I’ve been playing Elite pretty much daily for the last couple of week, gotten back into it after a slow start. Every time I play it – I get dropped out the game with the message “cannot connect to matchmaking servers”. I’m playing solo at the moment, so unsure why matchmaking servers are relevant, either its a red herring and its something else, I know I need to be online, but I dont need to matchmake. There is no real consistency as to how and when this happens, supercruis, hyper jump, station approach, station landing, visiting station services.
I played for a good few hours yesterday and honestly lost count of the number of imtes this happened. Its frustrating, especially when on a long supercruis to drop out with “matchmaking” errors and have to begin that long cruise again. I dont have this issue with anything else, other games work fine, no connection problems, destiny, FIFA, Project cars etc. I’m replying to this thread as the message in topic is relevant – however the symptoms of being stuck are not.
